چکیده

Conventionally, the sorption methods of rare earth elements were done with cationic ion exchangers. The present work was mainly oriented to find an alternative method for sorption of light rare earth elements (LREEs) based on anionic ion exchangers. Two different anionic exchangers have been tested including Dowex-1 and Sybron SR-7. The selection of these two exchangers was mainly done to investigate the effect of chain length in the polymeric structure on the sorption performance of REEs complexes. Dowex-1 contains tri-methyl amine while SR-7 contains longer chain length of tri-propyl amine as a function group. Sorption of LREEs complexes with nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) on the two anionic exchangers has been tested by batch technique at various pH and metals concentrations. Aqueous speciation modeling was applied to predict the chemical species distribution of REEs complexes at various pH value of the aqueous phase.

The Preconcentration and Determination of Pb2+, Cu2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Fe2+ and Zn2+ Elements in Water Samples Using Citrate Form of Anion-Exchange Resin

Lead, copper, cobalt, nickel, iron and zinc ions form monocitrate complexes (negative charge) in citrate solution which is absorbed on the citrate form of anion-exchange resins (citrate as counter ion) y exchange of citrate ion with citrate complexes. These are subsequently recovered from the resin by 0.5M ammonium citrate eluent at pH 2.0. Under optimized conditions, quantitative recovery ...

Effects of Weak and Strong Cation Exchange Resins on Moisture Uptake Behavior of Ranitidine Hydrochloride

The aim of the present research was to study the effects of weak cation exchange resins, polacrilex with exchangeable H+ and polacrillin potassium and strong cation exchange resin sodium polystyrene sulfonate on water uptake behavior of ranitidine hydrochloride. Drug resin complexes (DRC) were prepared and evaluated for the percentage of moisture gain when placed in a humidity c...

Leaching of gold ores with high cyanicides: a physico-chemical modeling approach

Processing of gold ores with high sulfide minerals is problematic as they consume cyanide and reduce gold leaching. Optimization of gold leaching and cyanide consumption requires a methodology to estimate the amount of exposed cyanicides, their leaching kinetics, and speciation of cyanide complexes that consume the free cyanide and compete with gold. In this paper, a physico-chemical approach i...

Anion adsorption on oxide surfaces: inclusion of the water dipole in modeling the electrostatics of ligand exchange.

Adsorption of aqueous anions, such as sulfate, arsenite, and oxalate, to oxide surfaces is important in the retardation of toxic species in the environment, but predicting the surface speciation as a function of environmental parameters is a major challenge. Recent laboratory spectroscopic studies defining surface speciation must be integrated with surface complexation models. However, the latt...

Effects of chemical speciation on the mineralization of organic compounds by microorganisms.

The mineralization of 1.0 to 100 ng each of four complexing compounds-oxalate, citrate, nitrilotriacetate (NTA), and EDTA-per ml was tested in media prepared in accordance with equilibrium calculations by a computer program so that the H, Ca, Mg, Fe, or Al complex (chemical species) was predominant. Sewage microorganisms mineralized calcium citrate more rapidly than iron, aluminum, or hydrogen ...
